The All-India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in New Delhi will host Shalyacon 2025, a three-day national seminar on July 13 to 15, coinciding with Sushruta Jayanti on July 15 each year in the memory of Acharya Sushruta, popularly known as the Father of Surgery. Hosted by AIIA’s Department of Shalya Tantra under the chairmanship of Prof. (Dr.) Yogesh Badwe with co-partnership from the National Sushruta Association, the conference will be the 25th Annual Conference of the association.
The Chief Guest of the inaugural ceremony on July 14 would be Prataprao Ganpatrao Jadhav, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Ayush. Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush; Prof. Sanjeev Sharma, Vice Chancellor, National Institute of Ayurveda, Jaipur; and Prof. (Dr.) Tanuja Nesari, Director, Institute of Teaching & Research in Ayurveda, Jamnagar are Guests of Honour.
Prof. (Dr.) Manjusha Rajagopala, Director (I/C) of AIIA, highlighted the institute’s interest in bringing Ayurveda to the global world. “Shalyacon attests to AIIA’s commitment towards integrating Ayurvedic philosophy with state-of-the-art surgical technology and training future Ayurvedic surgeons in the training and confidence to deliver integrated surgical care,” she said.
The seminar, which is centered around Innovation, Integration, and Inspiration, will include live surgical demonstrations on July 13 and 14, such as general surgeries, anorectal surgeries, and urosurgeries. The tenth of July will highlight ten general endoscopic laparoscopic surgeries, while the eleventh of July will highlight sixteen anorectal surgeries, offering the participants hands-on learning opportunities.
Shalyacon 2025 expects to draw over 500 surgeons, researchers, academicians, and scholars from India and across the globe. The conference will facilitate an idea exchange, determine clinical innovation, and review future trends in Ayurvedic surgical operations. A unique plenary session across the three days of the conference will address General and Laparoscopic Surgery, Wound Care, Para-surgical Techniques, Anorectal Surgery, Asthi-Sandhi Marma Chikitsa, and surgical innovation.
The final day will have over 200 oral and poster presentations to contribute to scholarly discussions. A Scientific Session where researchers and clinicians may present their work, followed by a cultural show to conclude the event, will also be there.
