Bengaluru’s Yellow Line Metro Set to Launch on August 10

PM Modi to Inaugurate 19-km Corridor Connecting Key Tech and Residential Hubs

Bengaluru is gearing up for a major boost in urban mobility as the long-awaited Yellow Line of Namma Metro is finally set to open. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially inaugurate the 19-kilometer stretch on August 10, with passenger services kicking off the following day, according to the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL).

The new line runs from Rashtriya Vidyalaya Road to Bommasandra, featuring 16 elevated stations and linking several high-traffic zones including Central Silk Board, HSR Layout, Bommanahalli, and Electronic City—a vital corridor for the city’s tech workforce.

To start, three driverless trains will operate from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., with intervals of 20–25 minutes. BMRCL plans to expand the fleet later this year to accommodate growing demand.

This launch marks a significant milestone in Bengaluru’s efforts to reduce traffic congestion, especially along the IT corridor. Officials estimate that daily ridership could eventually exceed 2 lakh commuters.

The Yellow Line will also enhance connectivity across the metro network, linking with:

  • Green Line at RV Road
  • Pink Line at Jayadeva Hospital
  • Upcoming Blue Line at Silk Board

With these integrations, commuters can expect smoother and faster cross-city travel, making Bengaluru’s metro system more efficient and accessible than ever.
