Bengaluru: The long-awaited BBMP elections are likely to be held in early 2026, covering the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and five newly proposed city municipal corporations under the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA).
The last BBMP election was conducted in August 2015, and its term ended in September 2020. Since then, elections have been postponed multiple times. The issue is currently under review in the Supreme Court of India.

- July 19, 2025 – Notification issued for the formation of five new city corporations.
- August 18, 2025 – Deadline for submitting objections and suggestions.
- September 2025 (First Week) – Final notification for new corporations expected.
- November 1, 2025 – Final notification on ward delimitation to be published.
- November 30, 2025 – Final notification on ward reservations to be released.
Election Preparations Underway
Following the final notifications, the Karnataka State Election Commission will begin preparations for the civic polls. This includes:
- Conducting voter list surveys.
- Transferring voters between wards based on new boundaries.
- Finalizing electoral rolls and polling logistics.
These tasks are expected to take approximately two months, which means the BBMP election date will likely fall in early 2026.
