Mysuru’s historic Amba Vilas Palace witnessed a moment of grandeur on Tuesday as President Droupadi Murmu arrived for a special visit. Accompanied by her daughter Itishree Murmu, Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, and other dignitaries, the President explored the palace’s architectural marvels and rich heritage.
Welcomed with warmth by royal family member Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, the President toured the palace’s most treasured spaces — from the majestic Durbar Hall with its glass ceiling to the timeless Raja Ravi Varma paintings, antique furniture, and the royal armoury.
The visit concluded with a lavish Mysuru-style breakfast, where the President savoured local favourites like masala dosa, Mysore pak, idli-sambar, shavige uppittu, sabbakki vada, godhi halbai, and badam halwa. Fresh tender coconut water and seasonal fruits added a refreshing touch to the royal spread, all thoughtfully prepared to match her preferences.
This visit not only celebrated Mysuru’s royal heritage but also showcased the city’s famed hospitality — a blend of tradition, taste, and timeless charm.
