Hosapete, Vijayanagar: There’s been a major change in the police leadership in Vijayanagar district. Jahnavi S. Sivakumar, an IPS officer from the 2019 batch, is now the new Superintendent of Police (SP). She replaces Shriharibabu B.L., who has been transferred to Bengaluru to take on a new role as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in the Central Crime Branch, focusing on major crime investigations.
Jahnavi brings a fresh perspective and solid experience to the role. Before this, she was DCP in Mysuru, where she managed both crime and traffic departments. Her work there was known for prioritizing public safety, involving the community, and using data to guide decisions.
She holds a Master’s degree in Psychology from Bangalore University and has worked in several specialized units, including the Forensic Science Lab, Crime Investigation Department, and Internal Security Division. Colleagues and citizens alike appreciate her thoughtful leadership style and her commitment to transparency and accountability.
Outgoing SP Shriharibabu B.L. served Vijayanagar for nearly three years, helping shape the district after it was formed in 2021. His move to Bengaluru marks a new chapter in his career, where he’ll be handling high-profile crime cases.
The appointment of Jahnavi S. Sivakumar signals a fresh and dynamic phase for policing in Vijayanagar. With her background in psychology and experience in specialized crime units, residents can expect a proactive and people-centric approach to law enforcement.
